PORTLAND, OR (October 13, 2020)...Boutique microphone company, Ear Trumpet Labs, celebrates a successful Shout & Shine showcase for this year’s IBMA’s Virtual World of Bluegrass festival held Oct. 3. In its fifth year, the showcase promotes equity and inclusion in bluegrass and roots music, giving a platform to those who’ve been overlooked, and illuminating the paths of those starting out on uphill journeys. Hosted by Brandi Waller-Pace, Shout & Shine featured a stellar lineup with wonderful performances from Waller-Pace, Amythyst Kiah, Tray Wellington Band, Sunny War, Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton, Rissi Palmer, Kaïa Kater, and Stephanie Anne Johnson.

Ear Trumpet Labs has been a long time attendee and sponsor of the IBMA festival, and decided to direct their sponsorship this year on efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in bluegrass. "I love Shout & Shine as an organization and what they’re doing to highlight the voices and perspectives of Black musicians, the LGBTQ+ community, and all marginalized people in roots music,” notes Philip Graham, founder of Ear Trumpet Labs. “Their showcases have been the highlight of IBMA every year for me, featuring both emerging talents and legendary performers. It’s been exciting to see the bluegrass world embracing a broader set of influences and highlighting performers deep in the tradition that often get overlooked, and Shout & Shine’s leadership has been essential to that.”

Kicking off as the host for the evening, Brandi Waller-Pace began with a beautiful rendition of “Red Rocking Chair” utilizing Ear Trumpet Labs’ Delphina model. The Delphina is a large diaphragm condenser microphone with a warm natural tone ideal for single-miking soloists or small acoustic ensembles, that particularly shines in a livestream setting. Rissi Palmer, host of Apple Music Country’s new podcast Color Me Country, was then joined by Omar Ruiz-Lopez on fiddle to perform her original song “You Were Here” off her most recent album Revival. Palmer performs with the Myrtle model, a large diaphragm condenser with spring-suspended retro styling, perfect for livestreaming and “gather round” style performances. During the global pandemic more and more artists began turning to Ear Trumpet Labs as their go-to option for home recording and livestreaming while off the road.

All of the performances from the Shout & Shine showcase are available on The Bluegrass Situation YouTube Channel
