Poplar Hall Honored in the 2022 U.S. Wood Design Awards
Prestigious National Award Recognizes Appleton’s Newest Events and Performance Space and the Team Behind It
March 16, 2022, Appleton, WI…Poplar Hall and the team behind Appleton’s newest events and performance space have been honored in the 2022 U.S. Wood Design Awards. Presented by WoodWorks - Wood Products Council, the national awards recognize excellence in architectural design with wood.
“From a public library in DC to the first mass timber hotel in Texas to a ferry terminal in Washington, this year’s winning projects showcase wood’s flexibility on scales small and large,” said WoodWorks President and CEO, Jennifer Cover. “Beyond the technical innovations achieved in these buildings, they are simply beautiful to look at.” Poplar Hall demonstrates that good design can achieve multiple goals when driven by consideration for the human experience and thoughtful materiality.
The team behind the 8,400 sq feet, two-story, multi-use venue are:
Architect: Engberg Anderson Architects
Structural Engineer: CORE 4 Engineering
Owner / Developer: Tanesay Development
Contractor: C.D. Smith Construction
“Congratulations to all of the 2022 honorees, it is a thrill to have Poplar Hall recognized among such distinguished buildings. Hats off to Engberg Anderson. They took a challenge - our need for a twenty-foot concrete retaining wall, - and turned it into a beautiful, warm gathering space overlooking the river,” adds Mark Geall, CEO of Tanesay Development.
