Todd Sharp Earns Editors' Pick Award from Guitar Player Magazine
Flagship Model JOAT 20RT Receives Stellar Review from Dave Hunter
March 29, 2016, NASHVILLE, TN… Guitarist, Todd Sharp, officially launched Todd Sharp Amplifiers in February 2016 and is already generating rave reviews from players and critics alike. Esteemed writer and musician, Dave Hunter, reviewed Todd's flagship model the JOAT 20 RT (Jack Of All Tone, 20 Watts, Reverb/Tremolo) in the March issue of Guitar Player Magazine, selecting it as an Editors' Pick, the highest award from the publication.
Hunter evaluated the JOAT 20RT through the Model A 2x12 cab with Celestion Alnico Blue speakers, employing a Stratocaster, a Telecaster, and a Les Paul to the test. Hunter notes, "From ultra-clean sparkly fairy dust to chunkier twang on either of the Fenders to meaty, singing blues-with even more sting from the Les Paul-to juicy, articulate humbucker-driven classic rock, the JOAT 20RT acquitted itself mightily at every twist and turn. "
In comparing the JOAT 20RT to its competitors Hunter sites, "The reverb was lush and versatile, the trem richly hypnotic, and along with that extra dimension we often attribute to top-flight vintage or boutique amps, it was stouter sounding all around than its cathode-biased EL84 brethren…the JOAT 20RT is one of the better EL84-based designs I've played in years, and it receives an Editors' Pick Award."
In addition to Hunter, early admirers of the brand include Vince Gill, John Oates, Mick Fleetwood and Steve Wariner, who have all purchased amps. Oates is using the JOAT 20RT on his 2016 national tour with Daryl Hall. Owen Barry, guitarist for Tal Wilkenfeld, will also be using Todd Sharp Amps during their tour opening for The Who this year.
