Founded in New York in 1833, C. F. Martin & Co. has been making the world’s finest acoustic guitars for nearly 200 years. Martin acoustic guitars are prized worldwide for their exceptional tone, design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. During this program, C. F. Martin IV, known as Chris Martin—the brand’s executive chairman and the sixth generation of the Martin family to run the business—will share the company’s rich history within country music and show a selection of prototypes from his personal collection, housed at Pennsylvania’s Martin Guitar Museum. The instruments will also be played by Martin clinician, guitar instructor, and singer-songwriter Craig Thatcher. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s instrument collection curator, Jack Clutter, will be on hand to share insight into the Museum’s Martin guitar collection, a selection of which will be displayed onstage. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required. Free to Museum members.
