Challis, ID, April 19, 2024- The 40th Anniversary of the wildly popular Braun Brothers Reunion (BBR) festival is set for August 8-10 in Challis, Idaho. The three-day family-friendly festival features over a dozen performances including Reckless Kelly, Micky & The Motorcars, Wade Bowen, and Steve Earle (full schedule below.) Tickets which include single-day, full festival, and children’s options go on sale this Thursday, April 21 at 10 a.m. Mountain time. Tickets are available at BraunBrothersReunion.com.
A true family affair, the event is put on by the four Braun Brothers Willy and Cody (from Reckless Kelly), Micky and Gary (from Micky and the Motorcars), and their families and friends. The musical roots run deep in this family with patriarch Muzzie serving as musical ringleader for his talented offspring. It was Muzzie and his wife JoAnn who launched the Idaho-based festival in 1984.
“We are going to have one heck of a party this year to celebrate our 40th anniversary of the Braun Brothers Reunion,” said Willy Braun.”We are so proud of our musical family which will once again be on full display during this festival.”
As in years past, the brothers tap their talented friends to join them in picturesque Challis for three days of music, parties, and friendship. “Some people have been coming to BBR for decades,” Cody Braun adds. “A lot of the fans that make this trek every year have become like family and we can’t wait to see everyone.” Cody is proud that they have kept BBR intimate and more affordable compared to the “big box corporate” festivals that have been popping up in the area.
Micky Braun remembers making his BBR debut at just 6 years old when he played his dad’s mariachi bass as an upright bass because he was so little. The now frontman for Micky and the Motorcars remembers that the festival also helped him ring in his 21st birthday with an after-hours show at the Rod N Gun Club in 2005. “Every year I look forward to seeing all my old friends, meeting new bands, and hanging out with my family. It’s pretty incredible how many people still come every year from when I was a kid. I can’t wait for this summer!”
