Jamie Kent Debuts #16 on Billboard Top Current Country Albums Chart

Hits Album Sales Home Run with Unconventional Business Model

October 31, 2016, Nashville, TN... Independent country artist, Jamie Kent, has debuted at #16 onBillboard’s Top Current Country Albums chart, the third highest debut this week. The album, All American Mutt, produced by Dave Brainard (Brandy Clark, Jerrod Neimann, Jamey Johnson), has sold over 2500 copies in its first week of release.

The chart position is even more impressive due to how Kent has chosen to distribute the album. All American Mutt is only available for purchase through his website (JamieKent.com). The project is not available on traditional digital outlets (iTunes, Google, Amazon) nor can it be found on streaming sites.

“We have such a passionate fan base that I knew a big goal like this was possible because of their enthusiasm,” said Kent, who tours 150+ days a year and is supported by “The Collective," a grassroots group of fans who help advise and fund Kent in exchange for access to exclusive music, merchandise, and a vote in his major decisions. Kent has also attracted the support of some bigger artists and corporate partners like Durango Boots, Huey Lewis & The News, Bose, 30A, and Telefunken Microphones. “Parallel to our grassroots movement, our corporate partners were integral in spreading the word to their fan/customer bases, which only helped build the buzz to an even greater level.”

It is exciting for Kent to celebrate the success of this debut during CMA Week. “I’m just so blown away by the support of our fans. Together we have shown that a different model for success can work. People still love music and are passionate about partnering with artists to help us reach our dreams. I’m proud to be a part of a family of musicians at Road Dog / First Note (firstnoteplay.com), where we’ve been supporting each other and believing in this model.”

Kent’s infectious title track, "All American Mutt", has added to the excitement around the project. “The song aims to be a reminder that our differences are also what make our country so great. As this election continues to pull us all apart, I think it’s more important than ever for us to love on each other and remember there’s more to the world than just politics,” Kent has said. Rolling Stone Country premiered the video and dubbed him a “must see act.”
