Hawken Horse Announces Release of Ambitious Double Album "Hammered & Hewn"

Nashville, TN - July 12, 2024 - Hawken Horse, the musical project conceived by hit songwriter Andrew Scott Wills, is set to release its most ambitious project to date, Hammered & Hewn. The double album consists of 28 tracks, each one a nod to the historical events, stories, and lifestyles experienced in North America from 1765 to 1887. Volume 1 of the album will be released on all streaming platforms July 12, 2024, with Volume 2 to follow in the fall of 2024.

Hammered & Hewn promises to captivate listeners with its blend of storytelling and raw musicality. The album features songs about iconic figures such as Davy Crockett, John Colter, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Kit Carson, Billy the Kid and Jedediah Smith. "This project is my attempt to paint the stories of the west, amazing and sad, with the medium of music,” Wills shares. “I've always been a big story guy but my favorite stories are the true ones. I want to take listeners on a musical journey through the wild frontier." 

The concept of Hawken Horse was born during deer season on a 14-hour road trip from Tennessee to Northern Wisconsin, merging Wills' passions for music and history. The return trip saw the birth of his breakout song "Free," setting the stage for what would become a unique musical exploration of America's past.
