David Starr Releases Timely New Single “Any Chance Of Going Home”
Featuring Bluegrass Songstress Irene Kelley
NASHVILLE, TN (December 2, 2022)...Colorado resident and Americana singer/songwriter, David Starr, releases the fifth single from his upcoming EP Better Me. “Any Chance Of Going Home” features Starr’s signature storytelling lyrics, classic acoustic fingerpicking, warm fiddle, and stellar vocals from Starr and Irene Kelley. Out today, it is available on all streaming platforms.
Starr used his long-honed songwriting craft to write a story around a stranger he encountered early one morning. "I watched an unknown older man in my small Colorado town one morning as he very deliberately prepared to smoke a cigarette in the dawn light. I'd never seen him before and wondered what his story might be,” Starr shares. “Several phrases and ideas from my notebook merged to write his ‘story.’ While he remains a mystery to me, he seemed like a bit of a lost soul. I never saw him again and still don't know who he is." The song is timely with the season, its subject matter speaks to themes of returning home and redemption; even if ultimately, the main character doesn’t act upon it.
Longtime collaborator and friend, Irene Kelley, shines brightly on the track, adding crystal clear vocals that are an excellent pairing with Starr. Recorded in Nashville, TN at Addiction Sound Studios the song also features Mark Prentice on bass, John Reno Prentice on electric guitar, Matt Bubel on drums and percussion, Jimmy Mattingly on fiddle, Dan Dugmore on steel guitar, and acoustic guitar from Starr.
As the year winds down, Starr reflects on a fruitful 2022, with tour dates across the country as well as the UK, Ireland, and Wales, and showcases at Americana Fest, Folk Alliance, and Southwest Regional Folk Alliance. The forthcoming Better Me EP is set to be released in early 2023 with a spring tour announcement.

ABOUT DAVID STARR
David Starr possesses “a compelling voice, something truly special, both accessible and passionate” (Elmore), that has been honed releasing ten albums, touring internationally, and opening shows for esteemed artists such as John Oates (Hall & Oates), America, Karla Bonoff, The Steel Wheels, Survivor, and more. His latest full length project, Touchstones, featured a new digital single release every month for one year, culminating in a full album in December 2021. During a year where COVID-19 stopped the world in its tracks, Starr took time to reflect on and experience anew the music that shaped his own, and put his own spin on a number of classics such as "I've Got To Use My Imagination" (Gladys Knight), "Drive" (The Cars), and "These Days" (Jackson Browne). Touchstones follows Starr’s acclaimed February 2020 record, Beauty & Ruin. Produced and arranged by John Oates, the collection of songs was inspired by Of What Was, Nothing Is Left, a novel written by Starr’s grandfather in 1972. Starr’s prestige extends beyond the stage as well, having launched Starr’s Guitars in Little Rock in 1998, then relocating to Cedaredge in 2001. Today, the store is such an institution that Cedaredge proclaimed the musician’s birthday as David Starr Day in 2016. Starr was also instrumental in the 2018 opening of the Grand Mesa Arts & Events Center, an intimate event space brought to fruition through strong community support. His latest EP, Better Me, includes the title track as the first single, with a new collection of long-awaited originals to follow to be fully released in 2023.
