“Americana songwriter David Starr walks into a room and everything falls still. You genuinely want to hear what he has to say. And then he sings… It is like being connected to nature and society all at once.” Go See Live Music

"Wow. This folkie can really sing. This is classic, acoustic, songwriter/troubadour stuff that harkens back to the best of the James Taylor/Joni Mitchell era. I love the ‘heart’ in his tenor tones.” Robert Oermann, MusicRow

“All in all South and West is an almost perfect collection of breezy country rock with some added muscle provided by the excellent ensemble playing. Starr is obviously well versed in his forebears and he is well able to dig a similar seam. Perfect summer listening.” Blabber ‘n’ Smoke

Along with a reimagined cover of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “Country Comfort”, the record features 11 songs that Starr wrote or co-wrote. Starr served as sole producer of South and West. The full-length project follows an acclaimed EP titled The Head and Heart, produced by John Oates. “David Starr has a voice you will never forget. His music is authentic, his songs are honest, full of emotion and truth,” Oates says.

The release of South and West will coincide with the grand opening of the Grand Mesa Arts Center in Cedaredge, an intimate event space brought to fruition through strong community support. Starr helped design the space in order to attract traveling musicians and exhibiting visual artists to Southwestern Colorado. He will perform at the new venue on June 16. Starr also owns and operates Starr’s Guitars in Cedaredge, a vibrant community located on the Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mountain in the world.

South and West follows a successful year of touring across the U.S. and abroad. In 2017, Starr performed at Nashville institutions such as Americanafest, the Bluebird Café, Station Inn, and WSM-AM 650. Starr was also a featured performer at the Power of Music Festival in Bentonville, Arkansas in April. He will perform an album release concert in Nashville on June 20 at the Station Inn.
