Celebrate 25th Anniversary of R.E.M.’s Out of Time with Mike Mills at WHO KNEW™ Nashville

Exclusive Event Features The Long Players Benefiting Notes for Notes® 

NASHVILLE, Tenn., September 7, 2016— Join WHO KNEW™ Celebrates and bassist Mike Mills of R.E.M. for a special evening honoring the 25th anniversary of the band’s multi-Grammy Award winning album, Out of Time on Friday, Oct. 7 at City Winery. Doors open at 6 p.m. CST and the program begins at 7 p.m. CST.

Tickets for the event, which benefits Notes for Notes®, will go on sale Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. CST and range from $25 - $100. Premier tickets include a Meet & Greet with Mike Mills, an event poster signed by Mills, and the opportunity to submit questions for the interview. Attendees of WHO KNEW Celebrates will be part of an intimate setting where they will hear from award-winning bassist, Mike Mills, as he fields questions from noted music journalist, Craig Havighurst. The evening will also feature The Long Players as they perform Out of Time and some of R.E.M.’s greatest hits with several special guests.

This special WHO KNEW event combines all three of these amazing artistic elements into a totally unique, one-time only night to remember. Noted music journalist Craig Havighurst will conduct a thorough, engaging interview with Mike Mills. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask Mike questions, learn more about the inner workings of R.E.M. and hear The Long Players perform the record note for note as only they can do. They will also perform a set of R.E.M.’s greatest hits as well.

Mike Mills is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer who was a founding member of the alternative rock band R.E.M. Though known primarily as a bass guitarist, backing vocalist, and pianist, his musical repertoire also includes keyboards, guitar, and percussion instruments. He contributed to a majority of the band's musical compositions.

Out of Time is the seventh studio album by the American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on Warner Bros. Records in 1991. With Out of Time R.E.M.'s status grew from that of a cult band to a massive international act. The record topped the album sales charts in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom, spending 109 weeks on American album charts and enjoying two separate spells at the summit, and spending 183 weeks on the British charts and a single week at the top. The album has sold over four and a half million copies in the U.S. and over 18 million copies worldwide.The album won three Grammy Awards in 1992: one as Best Alternative Music Album, and two for the first single, "Losing My Religion."

The Long Players are a group of Nashville-based musicians who have, since 2004, taken classic albums and performed them live in their original sequence. Recruiting guest artists from their exceptional musical community, the band has celebrated over 50 seminal albums over the last seven years and gained national notoriety with feature news stories by NPR Radio ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, The Associated Press and Reuters / Billboard Magazine.

Notes for Notes® is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that designs, equips, and staffs after-school recording studios inside Boys & Girls Clubs offering youth the opportunity to explore, create, and record music for free.
