Feburary 3, 2022, Nashville, TN… Nashville Comic of the Year, Joshua Black, who has taken Nashville by storm with his monthly sold-out residency at Zanies and viral social videos, is sharing his coveted visual art in his debut solo exhibition, Don’t Forget to Laugh, at the Julia Martin Gallery. Running February 5 - 26, the exhibit will feature Black’s new body of paintings focused on absurdist social commentary. The opening reception will be held Saturday, February 5, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the gallery located at 444 Humphreys St, in Wedgewood Houston. The exhibit is part of the Wedgewood-Houston Art Crawl and the party is open to the public and features libations.

“I pour truth into my pieces like a heavy handed bartender, though you may not always taste it because of how well I’ve blended it with humor,” Black shared. “These pieces are messy, loud, and shocking, but most importantly they’re funny as fuck so…DON’T FORGET TO LAUGH!”

About Josh Black:

Josh Black is a stand-up comedian and visual artist based in Nashville. Born and raised in North Nashville, he developed a passion for cool sneakers, trap music, fried fish sandwiches, and storytelling. Growing up, Josh was kicked out of several schools for “disruptive behavior". Teachers complained that when they left the room, they’d return to the class in an uproar with all eyes glued on Josh, standing on a desk acting out jokes - often at the teacher’s expense.

Josh has since become a local celebrity and viral sensation. His standup act is riveting and his social media videos highlighting life in Tennessee have garnered millions of views. Josh is a regular at Zanies Comedy Club and is frequently featured in the Nashville Scene. He’s opened for Bonnie McFarland and performed with Theo Von, Cipha Sounds, John Crist, and Steve Byrne among a host of others. (www.sirjoshuablack.com)
