Austin Singer/Songwriter Leeann Atherton Releases Fallen Angel

New Record Impacting Americana Radio Now

AUSTIN, TX (February 2, 2021)...Singer/Songwriter Leeann Atherton announces the release of her critically acclaimed record Fallen Angel. A household name in the Austin music scene, Atherton is taking Fallen Angel to Americana radio backed by esteemed promoter Al Moss. Recorded with Mac McNabb, Atherton’s guitar player and co-writer on several tracks, it is a full-band treasure trove full of classic grooves and intelligent songwriting, with powerhouse vocals often compared with Bonnie Raitt’s grit, Billie Holiday’s understated soulfulness, and Janis Joplin’s raw power. Margaret Moser of the Austin Chronicle affirms, “When it comes to barn burning vocalists from Austin, TX, they don’t come any hotter than Leeann Atherton. She’s got Southern fireball pipes that don’t quit and an indefatigable spirit.”

From the first track the album is off to the races. “Once every few years a song appears that sounds like it’s always been here, something that has to be heard immediately. That’s Leeann Atherton’s 'Smack Dab in a Miracle.' It rises and falls and fills in all the missing pieces like an answer to life. Atherton’s mighty voice is powered by that secret source of emotion, the one which cannot be questioned. And that’s just the first track on Atherton’s new album,” states Bill Bentley, Americana Highways.

Atherton released her first single “Cleaning House” this fall, giving listeners a tasty preview of what was to come. With 11 tracks total, Fallen Angel touches on themes such as self-empowerment in “Straight From The Heart,” encouraging listeners to honor what’s inside and play from the heart. She takes a matter-of-fact tone on infidelity, singing as a third party on “Cheater’s Game,” stating that “you’re a loser in a cheater’s game.” Musically it is authentic and lively, moving effortlessly between soul, folk, blues, and gospel rich with guitar from McNabb, drums from Kevin Lance as well as the late, great Barry “Frosty” Smith, and keys from Coleman Berg, all while Atherton steers the ship.

Fallen Angel is the result of a decades-long career of honing her craft and musicianship in one of the country’s premier music city’s. Atherton has made records with legendary producer Rich Brotherton, as well as a Jazz Standards project with Slim Richey, and regularly collaborates with A-list session players in the scene. Her electric live performances have been known to stop audiences in their tracks. Fallen Angel confirms there is no question that Atherton will be a mainstay in the Americana genre and beyond.

Fallen Angel is available on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Pandora, and Deezer.
